Science and the Bible

Upon approaching people to discuss the fact that God loves them and has provided a way for them to be able to enter into Heaven when they die, I have at times been met with a statement like, "Oh, I don't believe the Bible, I'm more into science." What surprises me most about this statement is that it is usually a young person who will respond in this way.

I am absolutely amazed when I hear people say things like this, because of the many statements of fact that we can find which are similar to the few that follow.

Charles Darwin:

“I am quite conscious that my speculations run quite beyond the bounds of true science.”

In The Origin of Species Darwin wrote:“To suppose that the eye… could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.”

Wolfgang Smith, Phd

“On the fundamental level it becomes a rigorously demonstrable fact that there are no transitional types, and the so-called missing links are indeed non-existent.”

“…the fact remains that there exists to this day not a shred of bona fide scientific evidence in support of the thesis that macro-evolutionary transformations have ever occurred.”

[Evolutionist] Richards Dawkins:

He was asked on TV, “Can you think of one example of a mutation that has caused an increase in genetic complexity? Evolution would require billions of them. Can you name one please?” He was dead-silent for 19 seconds. Finally he said, “Shut off the camera please.”

Dr. David Plaisted's website[www.cs.unc.edu/~plaisted/ice]:

According to Dr. Plaisted, “Dr. Colin Patterson, a paleontologist, realized that amino acid sequences in near relatives on the phylogenic tree would be expected to show close correlation, according to evolutionary theory… To Patterson, this was a great opportunity to test the theory. The results:absolutely no correlation between similarity of sequences and nearness on the evolutionary tree. Patterson, in a speech given Nov. 5, 1981, before other evolutionists, pointed out to a stunned audience that the new data on amino acid sequences contradicts the theory of evolution. He said, ‘The theory makes a prediction; we’ve tested it, and the prediction is falsified precisely.'"

Quantitative genetic information from the Human Genome Project is proving the theory of evolution to be the most irrational belief ever held by mankind.

Individual species had to be assembled separately in the genetic code by an intelligent being whose electrical and chemical engineering technology is vastly superior to ours. The only word for such intelligence is GOD.

There are many steps between animal types, leading all the way up to man himself, for which missing links have never been found. At this point, in order to believe in evolution, without the existence of any transitional types, one would be required to take many incredible leaps of faith. This, to me, seems to more closely resemble religion than science.

On the other hand, if I believe the Bible, I can go to Genesis 1:1 and read, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Now I am left with just one step of faith. All I have to do is believe God. In the Bible description of Special Creation by God there is no need to search for transitional forms because God created all of the animal types as they exist today.
